THE PRE-GIG CHECK

Good music.
Ready USB.

Know what’s on your drive before you step into the booth.
Check your files against the players waiting for you.

↳ Built for the moment before the first track.
A VERY SERIOUS PRIVACY WARNING

We’d never steal your IDs.

Track IDs, that is. Your USB files stay on this device.
But if you ever want to share the secret weapons in your set…

Player & firmware coverage

Manufacturer manuals and release histories, with links you can inspect. “Listed release” means documented, not tested on a physical player. Unlisted versions stay unknown.

THE OTHER HALF OF USB READINESS

Right files. Right drive.

The browser can read your selected files and legacy export records. It cannot see your USB’s filesystem, partition table, or controller. Use this guide to check the settings on your laptop.

01 / FILESYSTEM

Check the actual format

Compare your drive with the selected players below. Newer-player support for exFAT does not make it compatible with older decks. Firmware coverage can also differ.

02 / PARTITIONS

Look beneath the volume

The partition scheme is separate from FAT32 or exFAT. The CDJ-3000 support page explicitly excludes GUID/GPT. Other unreviewed schemes remain unknown.

03 / EXPORT LIBRARY

Export for the booth

Device Library and OneLibrary are different exports. Copying music files alone does not build a rekordbox library. The scan checks legacy records and their referenced files; OneLibrary content validation is still pending.

Optional local drive inspection

Download the read-only Python tool and run it against the USB root. It queries your OS for filesystem and partition layout, then binds the report to file names and sizes. It does not format, repair, test hardware health or start a service.

Download drive inspector (Python 3.9+) ↓

python3 inspect_drive.py "/Volumes/YOUR_USB" --output ~/Desktop/usbgood-drive.json

On Linux use the USB mount path; on Windows use py inspect_drive.py E:\ --output usbgood-drive.json. Save the report on your laptop, outside the USB. Reports expire after 24 hours. Linux vfat may leave the FAT variant unknown.

No drive report imported.

Matching names and sizes cannot establish unique physical identity or file contents. Imported reports are local evidence, not signed attestations.

Your settings Optional · user-reported

These choices are recorded in your report. They never count as an automatically measured pass.

How to look it up

macOS

Open Disk Utility, choose View → Show All Devices, and select the USB volume for its format. Select the parent physical disk and open Info to inspect its partition scheme. Reading this information does not erase the drive.

Apple: disk information ↗
Windows

Open the USB drive’s Properties in File Explorer to read the filesystem. For partition style, open Disk Management, find the correct physical USB disk, and check Properties → Volumes. Alternatively, PowerShell Get-Volume and Get-Disk display volume and disk information.

Microsoft: volume information ↗

Back up your library before changing format or partitioning; those operations can erase data. This app makes no changes to your USB.

Requirements for your selected players

For firmware updates, follow the player’s update instructions separately; update-media requirements can differ from playback-media requirements.

SMALL HUMAN. BIG RUNNING COSTS.

Donate to the diaper fund.

If usbgood helped you avoid a booth-side surprise, you can help with a different kind of emergency.

Entirely optional. Every little bit is appreciated.
UNDER THE HOOD

A preflight, not a promise.

Choose a mounted USB folder using your browser’s folder picker. File headers are inspected locally; audio is never uploaded. Selecting a folder gives this page read access only to the files you choose.

The scanner reads WAV, AIFF, FLAC, and MP3 headers in a background worker. It checks declared structure, encoding, sample rate, bit depth, and extensions against sourced rules. It also inspects legacy rekordbox database pages, playlist links, and referenced files. Deep mode reads all audio bytes, checks all supported MP3 frame boundaries and attempts browser decoding within stated resource limits. Analysis-file checks validate known tag structures, beat ordering and cue/loop timing. OneLibrary contents and full firmware behavior remain unverified.

Use the drive guide for settings the browser cannot measure. Import an optional local inspector report for measured filesystem and partition information. Browser decoding does not emulate CDJ decoding.
